What Is a ConChair, Anyway?
The ConChair (short for Convention Chairperson) is the lead organizer responsible for bringing Penguicon to life each year. Appointed by the Board of Directors, the ConChair builds the vision, assembles the team, and guides the entire planning process from start to finish.
Think of the ConChair as the captain of a starship: charting the course, steering through challenges, and rallying the crew to deliver a fantastic convention experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Appointing and leading the department heads (aka the ConCom)
- Overseeing the convention’s budget and operations
- Reporting monthly progress to the Board
- Making sure everything stays on track logistically, financially, and creatively
The ConChair doesn’t do it alone, but they’re the glue that holds it all together.
