If I'm not mistaken, these are EVDO cards. I believe most of them are
supported in Linux, but there's some manual labor involved in setting
them up since the most popular GUI network management tools haven't
been brought up to date for these. The hardware itself is not even
close to wifi, so ndiswrapper probably won't help you. If the card is
supported, Linux will see it as a USB serial modem, so you have to use
PPP and the whole bit to get online.
If you have a card, put its model number into Google along with your
Linux distro of choice and it's pretty likely you'll stumble upon a
tutorial or HOWTO by someone who's already gotten it working. It might
be worth asking Verizon if they have any Linux documentation or
Linux-compatible EVDO cards. Sprint unofficially supports Linux for
some of their EVDO cards, meaning they provide basic documentation for
getting the card set up in Linux, but no technical support.
