I believe that Molly was commenting that Penguicon this next year (2008) conflicts with Passover.

Sorry, My bad. . Mixed up months
Passover ends on April 15'th. This, 17 days before Penguicon begins.
Sorry for the mixup.

Really? when-is.com indicates that Passover begins on Thursday, April 9'th. That would be 4 days after penguicon has completed. Or three for those who stayed to help clean up the consuite.

So, what I have read so far:
Reasons for making the date Earlier:
Interferes with Finals for some schools.
Possibly into spring wedding Season.
Interferes with the beginning of Walleye Fishing Season on the LP.
Reasons for Keeping that date:
Avoids Easter.
Avoids Passover
Avoids Notacon
Avoids Finals week for Local Schools.
Let me throw another into the pot. . . And wethere this is pro, or con, is a matter of oppionion.
Overlaps Beltane.

others something to dispute, and would likely snowball.
As I said in the original mail, this is not a vote, and not an opinion
poll, only a distributed research effort. This is an issue on which
consensus is impossible. Penguicon is very open, but this is one topic
on which a community-based process functions poorly.
No one person has all the facts with which to have an opinion that
matters. Really, no one person can be expected to. We're collecting
value-judgement-free data about major events and holidays, and then we
will decide who we have to disappoint.
It will be a disappointing decision on some grounds, no matter which
weekend it is. This is a question to which there is no right answer,
only the least bad answer.
When one centralized group has all that information, they will meet
and make the tough decision, probably at a concom meeting. We'll let
you know so you can be there!
