Most backyard mechanics will do brakes for cheap, like $25 labor, and
brake pads themselves are cheap (like $15-$20 a pair w/ a 1yr warranty.)
The trick is to change the pads before you wear them down to the metal
and they start eating into your rotors. That's when it gets expensive.
