The CD burner should also work just fine.  CD / DVD drives are pretty
well standardized.  On Linux (Ubuntu included), all the CD-burning
applications use one of only a couple available 'backends' which
support all CD/DVD+/-R/W/RAM drives.  They Just WorkTM.

Optical drives of the CD and DVD variety are very much a no-worry item
under Linux.
