I am currently working on a project for nursing school addressing diet and
GI cancer risk. We're scheduled to do a presentation about our topic in
either late April or early May. A few days ago, I was realizing I was
totally bored with the information, but realized I knew of a way to make it
more interesting: make it interactive, either software-based or web-based.
Something attractive, that allows people to think about risk factors, food,
suggests food choices. Additionally, I'd like to include a few things which
make it clear why you don't want cancer, like various gross pictures, and
something which viscerally reminds people that they actually *do* have a
certain degree of control over their risk for this particular type of cancer
(Isee the zombie game, below).
In a perfect world, I'd like something with a moderately attractive UI,
preferably that supports some kind of sound.
I'm already having scope creep of course, but some of the current ideas
include:
* risk assessment questionnaire
* food choices quiz (knowledge testing)
* food choices quiz (assessing what you actually do)
* Gallery of Icky Pictures (public domain images of various types of cancer
lesions)
* menu builder (with options like "I like spicy food!" "I like comfort
food!", etc.
* shoot-em-up style zombie game where the zombies are different types of
cancer - you mow them down with antioxidants, radiation and chemo. (I think
chemo should be a chainsaw, with a non-zero risk that you could chop off
your own limb.)
Are there any of you out there who have interest in producing this type of
site or software and might be willing to work on this to have another thing
in your portfolio? Sadly, there would be no money, only a very localized
portion of fame.
Anyway, if any of you are interested or have more questions, let me know.
(:
