I can't help you with the physical install (to far away), But I can
point you to a great source of info:  www.linuxquestions.org.  I've
been hanging out there for several months and I'm quite happy with it.

I wouldn't mind dumping Winblows myself, but I'm a gamer and I have a
scanner that's not supported by SANE.  So, until I can play my games
and use my scanner, I'm Stuck.
