[penguicon-general] OT: Help! A Story Problem for you Smart Masses

The Setup: You're sitting at your laptop, happily ripping music to your
external hard drive...
The 'Kicker': Your loveable, overly affectionate "puppy" comes bounding up
to lick your face, and pulls all the plugs out of your power strip...
The Problem: Now, when you turn your external hard drive, only the light in
front come on. No happy whirring sounds. No contented humming. No vibration
from spinning disks. No data access...

The Question: What, if anything, can you do to recover your data?

(If there is anything that can be done, I would greatly appreciate the
help.  If not, I have pretty much resigned myself to the loss.  -Steve =Þ)
