Since when has medicine NOT been a HUGE part of science fiction? You may
not be interested in such things, but our medical/science panels at
5.0definitely hit right at the heart of the crossover between
computers and
science fiction. Nanotechnology, both biologically based, and on a purely
mechanical level, is one of the main things that will BRING us to a future
we can only dream of now, and write about in awesome books!
Even STD's have their place in the world of science fiction. What about
biological warfare? In any case, if we don't allow our culture to expand to
include new and cool things, that is when we will truly not be adhering to
the open source philosophy. PenguiCon is, in the truest sense of the term,
Open Source. Anyopne who wants to become involved and work hard can
contribute in their own unique way. That's what makes us so awesome!
