[penguicon-general] Calling for any/all PostCon write-ups

Aaron,

I'm glad you asked, because it's for a very important reason.

We want more participation in creating what Rob called the "heartbeat"
of the site in constantly adding announcements, commentary, and other
content. Penguicon has learned through years of tough experience that
the way to get that is to not force people to use a new system, and
especially not a clunky one that they dislike. I've configured the
site to gather content from multiple systems that people already use
and like, such as Livejournal and Wordpress. They can just stick with
what they're doing, and it will harvest from all those sources and
present it on the front page.

Running the site on Wordpress offers the functionality with which to
control the look and feel of the site with a sidebar and static pages.
It lacks the gigantic bloat, learning curve, awkward editing
interface, and layout-inflexibility of a Content Management System
such as Drupal, Joomla or Plone. It also offers the admin the ability
to control which content posts are aggregated and which ones are left
off.

-Matt
