It made me quite frustrated and sad to see most aspects of my old job
of Minister of Communications falling down without me to do it. As
much as it has been rewarding to be Head of Programming (or
"Scheduling Wrangler" if you will), I want to go back to Minister of
Communications because I love it and I'm good at it.

The tour was written in the Intro To Penguicon blurb. But yeah, I
should have talked it up in email. You still wouldn't have known the
hotel layout, but this is why what we've done for tours in the past
was have a Minister Of Silly Walks attend concom meetings specifically
to do Tours With Tux during Penguicon.
(A big thank you also goes out to Tux for making an appearance this
year. You know who you are. Tux usually rests in the trunk of my car,
having gotten up in years and being ratty around the edges. We plan to
take him to a day spa this year and make him good as new.)
There were also no fewer than four giant hotel maps on foam core board
and eighteen 11"x17" maps. But printing is always a nightmare at
Penguicon, and was no less so this year. I print a lot in advance, but
there are always printing needs on site. What we need is to replace
the antique serial cable printers with two hot-swappable identical
black and white reliable laser printers. Perhaps we can get them from
MSU surplus in Lansing. My house has six broken color inkjet Epsons I
have accumulated during my years working on Penguicon ... Epson is an
awful brand.
A big "Thank You" goes to Audrey for drawing posterboard signs saying
"Consuite", "Smokin' Suite", "Live Music", "Yearbook Photography" and
"Chaos Dispenser" and to Courtney and Mickey for coloring them in.
