Thanks for coming out from England!
If you arrive at 17:20 and take two hours for customs and rental as
you describe, you will have an easy time. By 19:00 on a Thursday,
traffic from rush hour will have dispersed. You'll have clear driving
on I-94 eastbound to I-75 northbound.
