Wow, been awhile since I heard about them.  I was with them during
their first year, but I got bored with it I guess.  Also, I'm not as
much of a SETI proponent as before.

However, there are other distributed computing projects that could
actually benefit our planet.  I got the following from Wikipedia:

   o  Africa at home — solve African humanitarian and health problems
   o  Climateprediction.net — forecast the climate of the Earth in the 
      21st century
   o  Orbit at home — uses the Orbit Reconstruction, Simulation and 
      Analysis framework to monitor the impact hazard posed by 
      Near-Earth objects
   o  Plus a number of chemestry-related projects
