That's not just a can or should, that was a _DID_.

You seem to object to the convention having any activities that you,
personally, are not interested in. You object to their presence. You've
already brought up things we already _did_ as examples of things we shouldn't
do.
We've had a "geeks with guns" trip to the shooting range every year. We have
martial arts (live swordfighting and "self defense for geeks"). We have
alcohol (free beer and the scotch tasting). We have panels about hot sauce.
We have multiple types of group construction projects (the chaos machine and
junkyard wars). We have live action musical performances (not just filk, we
have Rocky Horror and Buffy the Vampire Slayer singalong). Only about half
of thoe are at all interesting to me, I'm the event's co-founder!
We poured liquid nitrogen into the swimming pool for no more reason than we do
anything else:
1) we could,
2) it seemed like fun at the time.
We'd never had liquid nitrogen ice cream at previous years, but it was enough
of a success that we plan to have it back. Yes, that's brand new stuff with
no relation to any of our old stuff, becoming a tradition before we've even
managed to do it a second time.
