[Penguicon-Concom] A question from a member about a book to sell

Regardless of the subject matter, if this book is the only thing he is
selling, I will tell him no. (Personally I don't think the subject matter
is appropriate in this setting, but that's me.) I don't split up dealer
tables. As dealers, we quibble about the space we have enough as it is
without adding "How much of the table is mine?". Last year we had a group
of authors who approached me about a table and that was fine. They worked
out all the details themselves.
On another note, I would like to put out into the airwaves again that if
anyone has requests for something or someone specific for the dealer's room,
please let me know now. I am going to start emailing most of the folks that
were there last year to see if they want to come back. If you know of a
dealer that you would like to have, email the info to me.
In with this, I need to know about who will be doing the con T-shirts and if
they need tables. I recommend against the folks we had last year as they
couldn't keep up with demand and the shirts they did at con were not of the
quality of the demo shirts they sent us. The logo cracked and mostly washed
off the one I have (with proper washing in cold water). I also never heard
if Jordan was ever about to cash his check for his tables.
Also, if there are any Nifty's or GOH's of any sort that want or need dealer
tables, please let me know as soon as possible, a the room will fill up fast
once I start letting folks know. I have a gal who says she is a Nifty for
6.0 named Lucy Snyder wanting to sell her and her husbands books. Anyone
know anything about her?
Is Lora still our hotel liaison?
Last year the dealer tables were:
1st table ------$60 (with 1 membership)
2nd-------------$45
3rd--------------$45
Additional memberships were $35 each.
Do we want to keep this the same or make any changes? (These rates are
comparable to other cons in the area.) I will be at Conclave, so we can
discuss this there if possible.
Here is the list of last years dealers that will be invited back. If you
have any comments of any of them (good or bad), please let me know.
The Amber Fox---------------Jewelry, carvings, penguins
Larry Smith Booksellers----Books
Morgan Kollin-----------------T-Shirts
Rob Balder--------------------Graphic Novels
Mia Tokatlian-----------------Jewelry
Button Monger---------------Custom Buttons
My Guild House--------------Gaming
Benjamin James (Santa)--Collectables
Mystik Waboose-------------Collectables
Now, as to children at con. I'm all for having them there if folks want to
bring them. Please let people know that there isn't going to be children's
programming and that they are responsible for watching their child at con.
I have seen way to many 4 year olds wondering around by themselves at cons
with no parents in sight. I have also had folks drop their kids off at my
dealer table and expect me to watch them. (No that isn't a joke.)
I also wanted to let you know that I won't be able to make the October
meeting as I have an event in Ohio. Any idea when the November meeting will
be? Thanks
Angie Fox

We let the ones under 13 that are with a parent/guardian in for free. Then
there parents let them run free around the entire hotel for the entire
weekend. Then these same parents come to closing and complain that we give
out loads of Caffeine in Consuite, have questionable content from dealers in
the dealer room and anything else they find that they don't want there kids
into. They expect that the con is a baby sitter so they don't have to take
any responsibility for any thing there kids might get into over the coarse
of the weekend.
Forget the kids I am not sure I want to see a book of Haiku about anal sex
in the dealer room.
and shit Jer I thought a book about anal would give you flash backs of that
one time.

how sexy, as in full of sex, Penguicon, or -any- sci fi con for that matter,
is. Most of us are geeks who don?t get enough. I will vote dealers room
rather than fan table, if that counts for anything.
What is our specific policy on children anyway?

I don't know that that is a point against, however. I mean, I don't know
that the con is skewed in the direction of children... so while I could see
the argument against having it in, say, the lobby.. I think there is some
question as to whether or not this would be acceptable in the dealer's room.

I wasn't sure who exactly could handle this, but if
somebody could get a response to me or him (or both)
I'd appreciate it. (and so would he!)

How much would it cost to get a table (or half a
table, or whatever) to sell my book, "Anal Sex Haiku,
Lascivious Limericks & Other Drivel?"
Is it acceptable to sell such a book at Penguicon?
