Well, Ron, I totally agree with you that we can't expect to do the same jobs
year after year.

I don't want to be match snark with snark here, but if you think that the
thankless task of running registration involves POWER, well, enjoy that
hallucination. Running registration and preregistration means working every month,
at Pcon, and at other cons. I'm sure Kimba felt plenty powerful at the end
of a twelve hour shift.

What can we, as volunteers, expect? We can expect to be told in person that
after YEARS of doing excellent work, we are being replaced. We can expect
to be offered a reason, I think. And yes, I think we can expect a thank you,
after being led to believe that we were working on staff for P5, and after
doing work that would improve the con for the next year.

I myself took over from a person who was summarily "replaced". Ask him
about it sometime. I expect to be replaced myself, any time, for no reason
whatsoever. It seems to be the way this con works. John assured me that oh
yes, I was still the dealers room rep, I was doing a fine job........but
that's hardly cause for being kept, it seems.

What's the point of this mini rant? That we're all expendable, I guess.
Obviously, we're not anything resembling a team, so why shouldn't we be?

Francine
