Subject: [Penguicon-Concom] Write up for the auction for the Web site
PenguiCon Charity Auction - Geeks, SF Fans and Gays - Oh, My!
This year's charities:
Ruth Ellis Center (link to their Web site)
Triangle Foundation (link name to the Web site)
This year, thanks to a generous donation of artwork by two local fans,
PenguiCon will be holding a Charity Auction to benefit two
organizations that work on behalf of Michigan's lesbian, gay, bisexual
and transgender citizens.
Ruth Ellis Center (LINK NAME TO THE WEB SITE) is one of only four
shelters for LGBT youth in the entire country. Roughly 40% of young
people who are homeless are LGBT, and their are few places they can go
to receive help and be accepted for who they are. The Ruth Ellis Center
is just such a place.
Triangle Foundation (LINK NAME TO THE WEB SITE) is Michigan's largest
LGBT advocacy organization. Triangle helps victims of hate crimes
statewide, fights anti-gay legislation, provides extensive programs for
youth and produces the state's largest gay events.
The auction will be held on Saturday, April 21. Entrance is free for
Con members (people who have paid to attend the entire convention) and
$10 for the general public. Your $10 ticket is also good for entrance
to PenguiCon's dance right after the auction.
