I would note that in previous years with ConFusion (especially the
first year) the Troy Marriott has let us sign a contract for a future
year that has only a $500 deposit that will be lost should we cancel
the contract within a certain timeframe after the current year's
convention (a week? t wo weeks?  I can't remember and it's too close
to my bedtime to look it up)  This was specifically agreed to in order
to give us space in case something hotel-specific went really poorly.

I am be saying that wrong.  I'm tired.  let me know if you have any
questions, or ask Brendan.  He knows all about it.
