[Penguicon-Concom] Bylaws bullshit - oh, give it up already!

Ron,
To address the issues with the board --
A) Way back in May, I resigned my post as treasurer on the board to
avoid a conflict of interest. I am still a board member until someone
is elected to replace me.
B) Steve has resigned for personal reasons that have nothing to do
with board politics. He will be missed.
C) Rob has offered his resignation due to his distance from Michigan,
as well as philosophical differences in how the con is maturing. He
is not resigning until we find a suitable replacement.
D) Tracy has offered her resignation to open up the board to new blood
but not until the by-laws have been revised. And if you weren't
aware, she's starting her one year accelerated bachelors for nursing
in about two weeks. She'd like to give up her seat to someone who can
actually have time to pay attention to the con.
E) Patricia and Susan are still active participants on the board.
So, there are currently five active board members, not two. And four
will be in attendance at the next meeting.
Speaking of the next meeting, there is a board meeting on Sunday
(effectively today). There have been several calls out for candidates
for inclusion on the board. The board manages the business end of the
con and helps determine the long term goals of the con. Those of you
out there who have been carping that the con doesn't have a strong
enough technical or SF focus should strongly consider becoming part of
the board. Help us select Guests, help us determine how to focus
effectively, help instill your vision. Board meetings are open to the
public, and this one will be held at the Ram's Horn on 12 Mile in
Southfield, starting at 1pm. We'd love to see you there.
Even if you don't want to be on the board, please show up at concom
meetings. We've got one of those coming up fairly soon, too, in a
couple weeks on the 26th in Ann Arbor. We're about seven months out
from a con, and regardless of sniping, controversy or high water,
we're having a con. To those of you who have been actively with 5.0,
thank you! We're going to have a great party, great guests and great
panels and activities.
Any questions?
Best Regards,
John Guest
