Fwd: [Board] Permission to move the website to Ideal Solution hosting

I'm taking the departmental aspects of this matter off list with my
staff. According to Gerald, departments are intended to decide as much
as possible internally without increasing the Conchair's workload, to
say nothing of getting the Board involved.
As for the matters which do concern the Board level, I'm currently
confirming the answers to the hosting questions Ron asked. I'll see if
we can implement Wordpress on our existing hosting space in the
meantime.

I have had reservations about this every time Matt has brought it up to me.
Matt indicated below that I "agreed" to move forward with this, I
don't remember ever doing this.
I do remember our discussion about it and I do remember telling him at the time
that I agreed that it might be time for Penguicon to change web software
but I never agreed with his idea of moving to WordPress or a new web host.
Please don't just blindly vote without asking the much needed questions
or reading the answers to the following questions (after they have
been answered).
How is doing this move going to save Penguicon money (if any)? and how much?
How is it going to get us better than five 9's (99.999% uptime) of
service and immediate 24 hour responce
to our issues when they do arise? (we get this now)
Can a new web host give us root access to our own server so we can manage it?
(this in my mind would be the only reason to move)
How is WordPress going to be any better than Plone?
What are the issue that people have with Plone (if there really are any)?
How is WordPress going to solve these issues?
Why do we need to use WordPress?
What will it do for us the Plone already doesn't (or can do)?
Why do we need to move web hosts to use WordPress?

Seconded for online vote.

I'd second this, 'cept I'm not a board member. Patricia? Susan?
Jordan? Marcus? Garrett? Bueller? :-)
