Board,

I might be incorrect, in that I consider this to be a Penguicon 6.0
issue rather than a multiple-year issue. But I'll bring it to you to
check. Penguicon needs a new public brochure site, and it needed it
last week at the latest. I have put it up on a test site here:

http://www.nemorathwald.com/penguicon/

It aggregates the Penguicon livejournal community and other
Penguicon-related RSS feeds. It will be the software that delivers the
Penguicon podcast as well. Also, it gives the site a greatly-needed
spring cleaning and simplification.

We have a narrow window to retain eyeballs from the excitement of
Penguicon and keep them coming back to the site all year long. The
window is closing, if it hasn't mostly closed already. This is
severely time-sensitive, and the concom/Board meeting is scheduled too
late to take action on this, to strike while the iron is hot.

If not all of the Board members have kept up on this issue, that's OK,
because it's a 6.0 issue rather than multi-year. However, the question
of a web-hosting service might be considered multi-year. That's open
to opinion.

Hosting has to be considered because I've got the Wordpress software
set up on my webspace at Ideal Solution. My company, Ideal Solution,
will host our site for cheaper than we're paying now, and with better
reliability. They will certainly have better customer service as well,
because they're all Penguicon guys, including of course me.

At the home of Jer Lance, in front of the President of the Board Chuck
Child, I got our conchair, Gerald Gentry, and the webmaster of my
Communications department, Ron Blanchett, all in agreement that we
should move forward with this immediately. I double and triple checked
their assent before I let anybody leave the house. Now Ron wants your
approval first before he'll switch the hosting service. May we have
it? Sorry that I can't wait for the board meeting.

-Matt
