So you stop allowing people to register through the website because snail-mail 
is slow.  Ok...

I take it they can't pay through the website, then?  (I can't tell, it doesn't 
say.  It wants me to enter my info before it tells me anything about payment 
options.  With a credit card you can check if the thing was charged just 
about instantly, Mark and I set a system like this up for the first Linucon 
where we could see registration live as it happened, and it didn't happen 
without a credit card approval or equivalent (override code for manual 
entry).  We were pondering using the web registration system at the door but 
didn't get the hardware set up in time.)

I'm confused: what exactly is the "also" in that last sentence?  You seem to 
imply you gave two reasons, but snail mail being slow is the only one I 
caught...

(I don't have a position on this issue one way or the other, I'm just trying 
to follow it...)
