Long time no speak --

My apologies for that. I was going to be setting up a concom meeting
for this month, but between the unexpected root canal, two trade
shows, and various other unexpecteds, life ended up taking a front
seat for awhile.

Additionally, since a good chunk of the concom is working the ren
faire, pushing off to October is, I feel, acceptable this month.
Those of you who haven't been at faire, I will be catching up with at
Clave. If anyone has anything burning that they need to take care of,
please let me know.

A couple bits of business for me to bring up to everyone --

First, we will be having a presence at Ohio Linux Fest. We will be
sharing space not only with the Worthies of the Free Software
Foundation, but also KDE. Our own Dan DeSloover will be presenting.
Also, future board member Marcus Watts will be presenting. And if I'm
not mistaken, Rob Landley will be making LN2 ice cream at the post
fest party. If you feel like taking a drive down to Columbus
September 30th, admission is FREE, as in beer. More info on OLF can
be found at http://www.ohiolinux.org/ Hope to see you there!

Second -- the following weekend is Conclave, and remember that this
year Clave has moved from Lansing and will be held in Romulus (ya
know, the airport?) We will be having Cafe Penguicon, and I would
greatly appreciate some assistance in running this, as we need to get
some pre regs in to pay transportation costs for all those really cool
people we've invited. :-)

If you're not already committed to helping out one of the other cons,
or too burned out from doing Faire for the last 2 months, please
contact me. If we get sufficient people, then a couple hours here and
a couple hours there will keep everyone from getting too crispy.

Third -- Yes, we will have a concom meeting in October. Right now, I
have October 21st scheduled at Great Oak co-housing -- 1 to 4 pm.
Mark your calendars!

And fourth -- If you weren't already aware, we have a full slate of
Guests of Honor now. Plus a host of nifties, with more being added
all the time. We now have, not one, but two Author guests --
Elizabeth Bear, and Charlie Stross. Ms. Bear is a bright up-coming
star and recent nominee for the Campbell award, and Mr. Stross is a
Hugo winner and has dabbled in just about every genre you care to
mention.

We have all the parts for a really amazing con in place, and we get to
make this a reality in just seven more short months.

Thanks everyone for all the hard work you've put in so far. We're on
a good track to throwing the best Penguicon yet!

Best Regards,

John Guest
