[Board] Board Vacancies

The board is for providing continuity long term. For being able to
enter into long term and legally binding contracts. For providing
oversight of the convention.
As conchair, I need to focus on this year, and this year only. Beyond
this year is a distraction. I don't want it.
After this year is over, I will be producing both a literal and
figurative contrail (no pun intended) probably to somewhere on the
other side of the planet where P-con will be the last thing on my mind
for at least a few months. This promise to myself is what will get me
through the next seven months with my sanity at least duct-taped in
place. So, I don't want to be on the board next year. I've spent
five years working on P-con in one fashion or another, and it's both
time for a break and a change.
While not every person we have as conchair will want to operate the
same as myself (and I pray to whatever gods you favor that they
don't), I see the logic in having both a strategic and a tactical arm
to putting on the convention.
And since we're not a corrupt business overseen by the SEC, I'm not
overly concerned about a conflict of interest. However, I see no
reason why not to pretend that we understand how a business is run.
And I also don't understand why creativity and originality can't
flourish in a managed environment. We're not that big -- we still all
know and trust each other.
