To the concom, board, and other interested parties --

This discussion is getting out of control.

Call me stupid and clueless, but I really don't understand why a
simple request for people to assist with a rewrite of Penguicon's
bylaw's is causing such an uproar. You can quibble about the language
that Tracy used (and you have), but we have had bylaws from the day
this con was incorporated before 1.0. There was a rewrite in year
three but that was handled almost exclusively by the board and Bill
Putt, the conchair at that time. The board is opening the current
rewrite process up to everyone who has an interest in doing so --
please tell me in clear and concise language, what is the problem with
this?

We have a really good group of volunteers for this year. We have a
hotel. We have interesting and exciting guests coming. So, no, this
shouldn't be rocket science to pull off a great con this year. We're
further ahead in these regards than we've ever been.

Yes we have some challenges ahead of us. The final numbers show that
we ran a deficit for last year (thank you Livonia Holiday Inn!), so
we're going to need to be aggressive about getting pre-regs this year
to cover pre-con expenses. And my apologies for those of you who
object to the use of corporate speak, but we have a product --
Penguicon, and we have customers -- our attendees, and we need to
increase our customer base. We need to be able get the word out to
people that we have this wonderful thing, and that they really want to
enjoy it. I am open to all suggestions on how to accomplish this.

So, let's focus on creating this years product -- Penguicon 5.0.
We've got eight short months ahead of us, so lets start working as a
team.

Thanks for listening --
